Dinner Sign-Ups

Game days during the season take the whole afternoon/evening. Games start as early as 3:30 pm and don't get over until around 8:30 pm - often with added travel time! Therefore, we ask that parents help our team by providing one dinner a year to keep the girls fueled and fed for all that energy they're expending. We have 24 girls on the team this year and 21 games, so there will be 3 games (designated on the sign up sheet with an (**) in front of the date) where we will ask that you double up and have 2 sets of parents work together to provide those meals.

It is a "First Come, First Serve," system, so get signed up quickly, especially since we have our first game on November 22nd! Please also be considerate of the financial needs of each other; if there are any problems with providing a meal, please feel free to contact the coaches about it and we will be more than willing to work with you  - we understand that not all financial situations are the same. With that same idea, remember there are 3 games that require 2 sets of parents and an endowment game that is only for varsity, it would be helpful to sign up for one of those. Home dinners need to be ready at 3:30 pm. For away games, some schools allow accommodations for hot lunches, but for the most part they will not be any such accommodations and will need to be sack lunches. Therefore, we ask that you you please have sack lunches to the school by 1:45 pm or at the visiting school by 3:00 pm (or if it happens to be a school that allows for hot lunches, to have it ready by 3:00 pm). This allows a time for all the girls to eat at some point during the day. There are 24 girls on the team, but including coaches and managers, please provide enough for 30-32 people and remember these girls will be hungry after games!

We want to thank you ladies for coming out to tryouts and to thank your parents, in advance, for the hard work they are about to put in as well. Now the fun (and work!) begins. Being a part of the Davis High team is no small accomplishment and with that comes a lot of responsibility. Being a part of a team takes commitment, dedication, unselfishness, grit, and sacrifice. We have full confidence in you girls and can't wait to get started!

DHS Girls Basketball Tryouts!

Tryouts will be held NOVEMBER 7TH & 8TH AT 3:00 PM! Monday, November 7th, we will be in the small gym, and the following day, November 8th, we will be in the main gym. Everyone MUST be registered on registermyathlete BEFORE you can tryout, so please do this now if you haven't yet.

Parents night will be held on November 9th at 6:15 in Coach Turner's room (Room #2410) after the team has been finalized.

• $25 - paid in the office under Girls Basketball Account - "Fall Open Gym"
• October 26- Nov. 2 - FREE!

Also, please get your physicals and registration on RegisterMyAthlete done as soon as possible! We don't want to have to hassle with this as tryouts approach!

• Select Utah - then Davis High School
• Create an account - parent/legal guardian
• Add a New Athlete - Basketball

Please read and sign all required documents. The only physical document that needs to be handed in is the physical form, once completed. The physical form can also be printed off on the reigstermyathlete site.

In Memory of Sophia Vasquez

On June 9th, 2016 our dear teammate, player and friend, Sofia Vasquez (#35), was killed unexpectedly in a car crash that morning. Sofie was full of energy and enthusiasm for life. Her love of basketball was evident in the way she played and she was fiercely competitive - with a smile. We all miss Sof deeply and we all have lasting memories with her because she took the time to know each one of us. To keep those memories alive we invite everyone to click on the link below and share their stories. Davis High School Girls Basketball Summer Camp 2016

We can't wait for this year's Davis High School Girls Basketball Summer Camp! Come and learn important skills and drills from the current Davis High Girls team and coaches!

The camp will be held at Davis High on June 6th-9th from 9 am to noon for both sessions (7th-9th grade girls only and 2nd-6th grade boys and girls). Camp will start promptly at 9:00 am on June 6th, so please pay in the office prior to that time to make sure you’re officially registered. The office is open from 7 am - 2 pm Monday through Friday.

Feel free to download and print the flier below prior to coming to the camp in order to make registration run smoothly.

CONGRATS TO HANNAH SNELL

         

We want to congratulate Hannah Snell as being selected a member of the Utah Girls Basketball Coaches Association 5A Senior All-star team! As a member of that team she played in a 5A vs 5A game held on March 19th, 2016 at Summit Academy High School. 

Spring Open Gym 2016!

We're back at it again! Spring 2016 Open Gyms will be held Mondays & Wednesdays beginning April 4 and going until June 2 (excluding May 4th due to a Cheer Safety Clinic) from 4:30 to 6:30 PM in the main gym. 

Remember, this is FREE to all current 8th - high school juniors so come out and play!

We will also be holding our annual Summer Camp on June 6-9 from 9 am to 12 noon for incoming 2nd through 10th graders, so mark your calendars!

Can't wait to see you all in the gym! Let's put in the work this off season!

Team Banquet 2016

Thanks for another GREAT season ladies! We can't wait to celebrate you and all of your hard work (and parents)! That is why we will be having our TEAM BANQUET  on March 14th, 2016 at 6:00 PM at the Davis High School Cafeteria. Please mark your calendars, more details to come!

The season isn't over yet! Our next game will be at Salt Lake Community College for the first round of the 2015-2016 Utah State 5A Tournament! We will play Tuesday, February 23rd at 7:30 PM against the Grizzlies of Copper Hills! Let's get 'em Davis!
