"Train Insane or Remain the Same"

After 26 open gyms and 36 games this spring and summer, we hope that you will continue to work hard during the months of July, August, September, and October. Work on your fundamentals - shooting, dribbling and passing. But also, get together and play, play, PLAY. Play 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4, and 5 on 5. You should have a ball in your hands every. single. day! Set daily and weekly goals. For example: Guards could set goals to shoot 300 shots daily - 100 3's, 100 off the pass, and 100 off the dribble. Or to make 200 shots every day. Posts could set goals to shoot 100 shots a day with your back to the basket using right and left hand, 100 drives to the basket (right and left) and 100 shots facing the basket - increasing your range, etc. Both guards and posts should be able to use both hands around the rim. Other goals might include shooting 100 free throws and making 80, working on your ball handling skills and being equally great with both hands, and passing with both hands. Work on conditioning, speed, and FOOTWORK. Also, lift weights 3 times a week, we need to get stronger!

It's a huge sacrifice to put in the time to be the best you can be. It takes dedication, determination, and discipline. The best athletes and basketball players make themselves better in the off season. At Davis High School we want to compete for a region championship every year. It can't be just a few who do this but every single DHS player.

We are excited for the 2015-2016 Davis High School Girls Basketball team. We are looking for players who have worked hard in the off season and who are willing to continue to wrk hard during the season. We are looking for talented and athletic players who are great students and teammates, who are coachable, give 100% effort 100% of the time and love the game of basketball. We will begin open gyms mid-September (days and times TBA) and go right up until tryouts which are November 9th and 10th (times TBA).
